When I was away from home doing my Disney college program times were hard. It was my first time living away from home and I didn’t know how to budget and get the things I needed! That was a few years ago and now I kind of got the hang of this whole baller on a budget thing.
I’ll never forget the day I spent $200 plus money for an Uber to go and get my hair done and that was my whole paycheck and I had 5 dollars left to eat for the rest of the week at the time .I was on a huge health kick and I know didn’t want to buy Ramen so I bought a small pack of salmon. It was the toughest week of my life. I didn’t want to ask my roommates for money or food. I didn’t want to call and ask my parents. So, I toughed it out and basically doubled up on free meals at work and didn’t eat when I got home. The lord really blessed that week because at the end of the night at work there was food every night and that normally didn’t happen! Nothing but the grace of God. Since then I’ve learned that yes, we want to keep up our appearances and look good but it’s 2019 and we also want financial stability. With this post I will be sharing some of my tips to be balling on a budget! My first tip comes from my girl Koshie Mills and that tip is Always go to Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s first. I’ll never forget paying 6.99 for a big bag of pistachios and then going to Aldi and finding a bag of pistachios for 1.99 it was then that my girl Koshie said always go to Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s first! And it just stuck with me. When you’re in college you can fall into eating a lot of microwave meals and Ramen because it’s more cost efficient but I’m here to tell you Aldi and Trader Joe’s both have amazing foods and great prices. Almost everything at Trader Joe’s is 2.99 and even a college student can afford that and still be balling on a budget. To keep up my appearance I Shop at Ross, TJ Maxx and marshals let me tell you Guys how obsessed I am with TJ Maxx, I always find the best things there for such good prices! These are awesome stores to find fashion deals, home decor deals, luggage basically anything you need will be at these stores! I always find the cutest shoes and outfits here! Calvin Klein undies and even high-end makeup like smash box, Anastasia, I find Nike’s and everything! The only difference is you basically pay half of what you pay if you went to the actual stores! This is the perfect solution to staying in trend while on budget. Music seems to be a huge part of everyday life, you listen to music while driving, while studying, while at house parties so you must have a streaming service, right? Did you know that streaming services offered student discounts? Spotify offers Spotify premium plus show time plus Hulu for $4.99(USD) I am not a Spotify user because I use tidal but even, I can’t believe how much of a good deal Spotify has. For 4.99 you get access to Spotify premium plus Showtime BUT WAIT THERES MORE. You also get access to Hulu! This is perfect because you get access to the music and access to Hulu and chill content! On a college budget this is the perfect deal and I even considered it. You can get that deal by clicking here. If you prefer Apple Music Apple, the discounted price for that is also $4.99(USD) with the firt three months free. You can get access to that here. If you prefer tidal like me! You can get access to tidal at a discount here! I prefer tidal because honestly Jay Z and Beyoncé! To access all these hacks, you will first have to verify you are a student through. UNIDAYS which is a website threat list students discounts through various retailers. Using Unidays while in college was a huge life saver, they had deals for a lot of retailers that I was already shopping at so that was a plus. As a student or someone who still has their active student ID Always bring it with you, you never know who offers a student discount. Those were a few of my favorite tips that have been the most beneficial to me in life before during and after college. I hope this small but mighty list helps you in some type of way. I provided a lot of direct links to places
