Dating at the Dcp
When you’re young you watch Disney movies and you wish to one day grow up and have a love like the kind you see in those movies. In my mind the DCP was an opportunity for me to start a whole new world and maybe find my prince charming. I was tryna be on some real-life Troy and Gabriella type ish but after strong deliberation I have concluded to Never fall in love at the dcp. For those of you who don’t know what the Dcp is, it’s the Disney college program in Orlando Florida. It’s an opportunity to live and work at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando Florida. One of my biggest rules are never fall in love at the Dcp and I’m going to tell you why. No one is ever in a relationship at the Dcp the reality of it all is that we’re all a bunch of college age kids living on our own around a lot of attractive people. No seriously everyone is attractive. I’ve seen people come to the Dcp in 3+ yearlong relationships and those relationships end because of meeting someone new at the Dcp. Whether these relationships last or not is really up to the people involved but there are so many factors that contribute to it .There are many ways to meet people on the Dcp you meet people in the parks , on the face book pages , in the dorms , at the clubs and once you realize you’re both on the Dcp you may have found your one . Me and Cali came up with a theory one night to test in the Dcp singles pages. The singles pages are Facebooks pages were single cps meet each other. The theory was that if we posted the quote “when will my prince come?” single Dcp boys will friend request and DM us. So, I posted it and it worked I was chatting up this cute guy for weeks before I arrived at the Dcp. Things were going so well until I arrived to Dcp we hung out once and then he got termed and banned from Disney property and relationship over! Another way to meet on the Dcp is hanging around the Italy pavilion. A lot of the single girls would hang around the Italy pavilion trying to catch the attention of the boys working there this slightly worked for me I’ll tell you how. I worked at Epcot, so I would always see this cute Italian boy on the bus! He lived in the commons I lived in vista way. He would never say anything, and I didn’t either. The night of winter formal we saw each other, and we danced ‘like all night! we hangout the next day and then I found out about all the other girls he was hanging out with through a mutual friend who is now one of my closest friends. I met a cutie at Hollywood’s studios he was from my city and we had mutual friends! We texted for a while until We hung out at the vista way tennis courts and then after that he found out his dorm Had bed bugs. So, I was like peace out boy scout! Fall 2015 Dcp everyone had bedbugs I was not trying to get those. I have so many more scenarios like these but moral of the story none of my Dcp relationships worked and I think that it was partly because of the environment. there are so many interesting people all around you, you may not want to settle down with one person while you could be out there living your best life. On the contrary let’s say you fall in love at the Dcp, your program comes to an end. now you must decide if the two of you are going to extend or does one have to go back to finish school. The question comes up on do you want to live with each other in your retrospective cities or do you want to move to Orlando. studies show that long distance relationships don’t work. So, unless you are 100 percent willing to drop everything you’re doing in life for someone you met on your Disney College Program I’m sticking with my statement of never fall in love at the dcp.
