Ladies, we all know that the eyebrows are the most important part of your face! So, I must ask you what you think about squiggly eyebrows? Haven't heard of them yet? Let me tell you! Squiggly eyebrows are the new wave and everyone is trying to surf ! I first saw it on Instagram and I was like wow that's extra! My second thought was, are they extra or am I not enough! One the trend really started trending I had to think to myself they are kind of cool, I found myself thinking on how I I could try the look for myself. The look started showing up all over my news feed and it was quite amazing to look at! Makeup is so creative you can do so many fun things with it that are so visually appealing. I typed in the hashtag Squiggly Eyebrows on Instagram to view different interpretations of them and was awestruck at all the different MUAS Who had tried them! I went to my vanity pulled out my makeup and I tried this trend! Making the eyebrows was surprisingly very easy and fun! The imperfection of the eyebrows is what makes them unique so I just had fun with it! Added some foundation, concealer, blush, highlight, eyeliner, and lips viola I was done! The results were quite alright I was pleased with my abilities considering the fact that I'm not a MUA. This look is super different and extra and although I wouldn't necessarily wear it out of the house it's cute! I think people should give it a chance because I feel like it's a LOOOK ! Squiggly eyebrows are a wave and I just want to surf! everyone sound off in the comments answering the question is this trend HOT Or NOT?

As my 21st year comes to end I want to take a time to reflect on it see what was great about it and what I want to improve for my 22nd year!
21 was great I was extremely social and outgoing, I traveled and I tried new things! With 22 I want to do all of that but times 100! It's my birthday and there is this feeling inside me this feeling of a shift. I want 22 to be my best year yet, the year of traveling, financial freedom, happiness and love. It's just time to get my life together and become the best version of me. A very phenomenal woman said something that just stuck out to me. Maxine waters said, "Reclaiming my time" and that is the theme of my 22nd year. To me reclaiming my time means getting back all the time you wasted on non-sense and there is nothing wrong with that ! I won't be afraid to say reclaiming my time whenever I feel my time needs to be reclaimed! The shift that I'm feeling is a shift my heart. The wants that I wanted before are seeming more futile and the wants for my future are becoming more impactful. In a sense, I have this tremendous hope for the year and for life ahead of me! Someone who I look up told me "I just don't be caring, I could die tomorrow so I just try to be happy and positive all the time " and I felt that as soon as he said it. I thought to myself I'm going to live my life like that ! I want to take chances and say yes to more things and just live my life to the fullest! I want to travel places, meet people, eat new things and then come home and blog about it! Shop at new stores get my nails done at new places, really switch it up this year! Most of the time our eyes are closed to the world around us because we only focus on the familiar! Does that make sense? What I mean is you don't see what you're not looking for! So, by you always shopping at the same place eating the same thing you may not even see that cool new spot that popped up right next to it! With the blog, I want to keep dropping fire I have so many ideas for things I want to do in the video realm so I want to get started with that. Physically I want to be more conscious of what I put in my body. I want to be healthier not diet but just eat things that are better for me! I want to physically block out all negative energy from around me, remove myself from situations that make me feel uncomfortable. I have these amazing ideas and opportunities lined up for me and I want 22 to be my year. I really can't wait to take you all on this journey with me! Subscribe to my blog notifications to stay updated! I had the pleasure of meeting Anjelica Montgomery the CEO Of Creative Queen Comics and The Creator of The Comic I am Nia Green. We met at the Sophisticated Press launch party and after hearing her story I knew I wanted to interview her. It’s always refreshing to network with Fellow black business owners and creatives because like I said before "Black people do that too". Representations in today’s world is so important because we, must give the black children something to look up to, so when they open a book or turn on the TV they see someone who looks like them. Nia Green does exactly that because she is a African American girl superhero! That is the epitome of black girl magic . With marvels Luke Cage and Black panther going mainstream I have been loving the representations of African American heroes in media and I would love to see Nia green represented on the big screen as well! Upon speaking with Anjelica here is what she had to say.
KS: How does it feel to be a black business owner! AM: It great, it is an ongoing learning experience and requires discipline. I’m still in the beginning stages. The taste of being a business owner is additive and my main goal is to become a full-time business owner. KS: How do you feel about the representations of African Americans in the comic world? AM: I don’t feel that African Americans are represented enough in the comic world. The black superheroes that are out there (Storm, Cyborg, Black Panther, etc.) are great, but we need more that have their own shine. What I mean is Black Superhero’s are always introduce as a side kick or a cameo in a mainstream Hero story and soon fade out. We need more Black superheroes with their own stories and that needs to be enough, they shouldn’t have to be a part of another Superhero story to be mainstream!! KS: Are you excited for the release of marvels black panther! AM: Am I??!! Girl I got my outfit picked out already!! I live for Marvel and DC movies. I’m so excited to see Black Panther do what he does on the big screen and I believe this movie will get more African Americans into comics. In addition, Creative Queen Comics may be doing a few tickets give away to see the movie! KS: Who is your favorite super hero? AM: BATMAN!!!!! Since I was 6, I can remember being excited about watching Batman! I love Batman because he is an ordinary man, no artificial superpowers and simply uses his genius mind to defeat his foes….and he does not use guns!! KS: Have you always been interested in comics? AM: I wouldn’t say comics, but I have always had an interest in Superhero’s mainly Batman, which led me to my interest of comic books. KS: What made you create a comic book? AM: People collect comic books just to collect them, I purchase comics to read them. So, I bring comics to work to read during my downtime, a co-worker who is a publisher, asked me if I ever thought about creating my own comic book. As much as I enjoy comics, I have never thought about making my own, so the expression on my face was like, “What??” a lightbulb went off and I started to create my book and character. KS: What was your creative process when creating Nia green? AM: My process was simple, I included everything that I enjoy (nature, crystals, spirituality) and compose it in my character, Nia Green- a black holistic, spiritual superhero with a crystal wand as her weapon. KS: How has the public response been to Nia green? AM: The responses I have received was the responses I wanted. The readers wanted more!! That put a smile on my face and let me know I was going into the right direction with my story. KS: Are you working on any other comics or a sequel to Nia green? AM: Yes, I am working on the second issue of “I am Nia Green” and I am also working on an outline for a special edition comic book for the holidays. KS: What's In the future for you and Nia green? AM: Big plans for me and Nia. I am currently working on the second issue of “I am Nia Green”, with each issue readers will learn more about Nia and the society she lives in, I’m working on creating Nia’s crystal wand with real crystals and posting a video on how to create a crystal wand, and lastly getting Nia Green face on posters and shirts. I am open to ideas, partnerships, networking! www.creativequeencomics.com [email protected] After that interview with Anjelica I feel so empowered and I feel like anything is possible! All you need is an idea and you can make that idea a reality with just little faith and hard work. I never knew how interested I was in comics until now but I am looking forward to hearing more from Anjelica and Nia Green! I can't take full credit because the idea was not completely mine it was my moms and I was a support for her but she quit and thirteen months later I'm still at it! Before I decided to become vegetarian I would go weeks at a time not eating meat , I just didn’t crave it . I was not the type of person who needed meat to survive so being a full fledged vegetarian came somewhat easy . I had tried it before for months and then went back to meat and now thirteen months is the longest I've been ! Here are some of the things that I've learned along the way .
There are a lot of vegetarians: When I became vegetarian I began to meet more vegetarians , and maybe my eyes just weren't open to them before but they are there ! Whenever I meet a fellow veggie its like we share this special bond and were somehow connected in a veggie cult . There are a ton of meat substitutes: Contrary to what you may believe just because I eat a veggie burger does not mean I want a real burger .In the beginning soy based meat substitutes can act as a crutch when you are transitioning into vegetarianism , some of the meat substitutes are so good they even get approved by meat eaters ! Vegetarian resturants: Nuff Said! I was really blind before I became a vegetarian but these restaurant's make you realize 100% you do not need meat ! A restaurant where you can literally eat everything is amazing because most times we just stick to side dishes And I love how restaurants like Freshii charge extra for meat ! Its the perfect vegetarian fast food restaurant. Be plant based: I learned the hard way that I was doing vegetarianism all wrong by eating bread , rice , pasta , fries and chips , that was literally a terrible diet to have and my body suffered tremendously ,now that I am plant based I can really feel the benefits of being vegetarian I feel so much energy , my skin is glowing and I am losing weight . Being vegetarian is lit ! Vegetarian and vegan are two different things: A vegetarian is one who does not eat meat , however a vegan does not consume or use any animal products .A vegan will not consume dairy at all or wear leather and are against products tested on animals ! It amazes me how many people think I am a vegan and how many people try to convince me to be a vegan . I have 100% thought of it and who knows whats in the future for me but for now i'm just a vegetarian . People try to convince me to eat meat: When people find out I'm a vegetarian they do some weird stuff : a coworker waved a piece of bacon in my face and I was triggered , literally my whole family tells me to eat meat and its kind of annoying .This was a decision I clearly made and I knew what i was doing when I made it so the interference is really irritating . I'm Vegetarian AF. This has been the most fun journey I have ever been on and I have learned so much about myself and the culture ! I would love to hear feedback from fellow vegetarians in the comments also if you have any questions about vegetarianism in the comments please ask lets start a discussion ! If you feel there is anything I missed on the list feel free to add ! Tiana Cabrera is a 24-year-old artist from New York, I first became interested in her art when she showed me some of her fashion sketches and I thought they were mad dope! As me and Tiana's friendship developed I began to see more and more of her artwork and understand why she did it! When I interview someone, I hope to get a better understanding of someone and I hope this interview gives you an idea of just who Tiana is and what she stands for!
KS: What was life like growing up? TC: Well I grew up in the South Bronx, and where I live isn’t the best of areas but it has definitely helped mold me to be the strong, bold person that I am. My parents have always managed to work to give me the best that they could. I attended catholic school from 3 years old up until graduating from high school. I’ve seen friends come and go even my own family, but hey that’s life. I struggled a bit when it came to college, it was hard for me to find the path I wanted to take and after constant transferring from school to school here in the Bronx, I decided it would be best to get myself out and go upstate. I graduated from State University of New York College at Oneonta in December of 2016. Since having graduated I’ve just been back home trying to find my way in the work world. KS: When did you start drawing? TC: Wow I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. My dad noticed my talent from a young age and has always told me even still to this day to not let my talent go to waste. Throughout school I always made it my business to join the art club and even in college I took some art classes as electives. In school my art definitely did not go unnoticed I won countless awards and even had my work shown in public vicinities before. KS: How would you describe your art? TC: I would describe my art as versatile because I don’t just stick to one genre. My sketches depend on my mood for the day. Sometimes I am in the mood to draw pictures related to Greek life, sometimes I’ll draw up some fashion ideas, and at times I’ll just pick up a pencil and see what pops up into my head. KS: How does art make you feel? TC: Oh art makes me feel so relaxed it’s the easiest getaway for me. When I’m drawing I am literally in my zone, and man does time fly by. Just the other day I was drawing and had no idea three hours passed. KS: Who are some of your art influences? TC: Hmmmm to be honest I really can’t say, just life and my surroundings and what I have experienced bring out that inspiration. What do you wish to achieve with your art Honestly, I do hope down the road that I can use my art in some sort of career path. I plan to move to Florida and my hopes are that one-day I can go into Interior Architecture or Illustration. Even if I don’t end up pursuing a career with my art I hope to at least keep it as a hobby and have my art shown and known. KS: What’s in the future for you? TC: Oh, the future. Man, oh man I’m hoping to move up out of the Bronx and move to Florida. Don’t get me wrong I might miss the Bronx at times but I need a huge change in my life. I’m just hoping I can work in the career path that I’ll love and continue to work on my art maybe sell a few drawings as I begin to draw more. I also want to out a message out there, a lot of people I come across are always telling me “I wish I could draw” it’s all about practice. I just want to tell people if you truly are intrigued with something especially a craft to take some time out of your day to practice it. With practice comes results. After my interview with Tiana I feel so encouraged to continue with my own art! I am nowhere near as talented as Tiana and I just do paint for fun but seriously after hearing her say with practice comes results I will continue to paint! I love the feeling after I interview someone and I'm left with a new hope and a new understanding of that person! I can't wait to see what's in the future for Tiana!
