My energy for year 22 was “reclaiming my time” which I did, I matched everyone's energy and gave them exactly what they gave me. I didn't waste my energy on things that did not benefit me or my future. 22 was my year that I believed I built my foundation to success, I planted seeds and now 23 will be the year that I build level one and watch my seeds grow. 22 was a year of all work and hardly any play but I want 23 to be my year of living my absolute best life. As always, I plan to travel more and attend more concerts, I plan to Upgrade my life in every way possible. I started shopping at Trader Joes, and only using all and eating all natural products on my body. I Started going to the gym and it’s not as frightening as I thought it would be. I’ve been looking back on life and the past year and GOD really came through with the blessings. Everything in my life is new and improved and I want to keep that same energy in 23. Reflecting on 22 and reading my 22nd birthday blog post I completed everything I wanted to and that’s such an amazing feeling. I look at birthdays as the true new year in your life , a time to set new goals for yourself and a time to measure growth. So at this time I am doing just that setting new goals and getting ready to smash them !
It doesn’t feel right to not acknowledge how thankful, blessed, and happy I feel to be here. To be alive and well enough to type this on my iPhone 8+. There were many challenges and obstacles in my life thus far that could have prevented me from being here but above all things I prevailed . I want to be an example and share a quote with you from a book I read. The quote read “No Matter the amount of negativity you’ve been presented with , five minutes from now could be your best moment” those are MOD SUNS words and they have always spoke to me since the moment I read them . To me those words mean to look at the bigger picture your world can see like it’s all crashing down on you but you don’t know what the rest of your day will bring or your next five minutes. Im really excited to take you all on this 23rd year journey with me , it’s going to be full of fun, self realization, ups and downs and I’m ready for it all . I want to invite you all to Subscribe to my blog to keep up with me.

With the Fall 2018 DCP term starting I wanted to offer my alumni advice. The Disney College Program is a program that is very near and dear to my heart. So much so that I did the program twice. That being said I guess one could say I know my way around the DCP. After Reading this post I would encourage you to reach out to me with any questions you may have don't ever be afraid to contact me for help because I find joy in anything related to the DCP.
My first and most important tip is DONT GET TERMED. At the beginning of your DCP you will be given all the rules you need to follow and I suggest you follow them .One slip up could end the internship of your dreams, and you will have 24 hours to pack up your things and leave property. You could be placed on a no rehire list and you will never have a shot at this program or this company ever again. Now on to some lighter tips. I highly suggest you Be open to making new friends. The people I met on my DCP are some of my closest friends, we have kept in touch after my program and they have even visited me in my hometown. This November me and a group of friends are planning a huge food and wine festival reunion and I am very excited for that. Another part of being open to friendships is Be open to make international friends. It's an amazing thing when you have people from all over the world living in the same apartment complex as you, take advantage of this learn a new culture, try a new food and learn a new language. Down the road you may travel abroad you will have someone local to visit and show you around you will have made a lifelong international friend. Go to the housing events. For one reason you paid for them in your housing fees, two they have free food and three they are fun and a great way to stay social. the housing parties are super fun, there are always character meet and greets there and don't forget grocery bingo. Where else can you play bingo to win free groceries? Buy that Disney merch. You will greatly appreciate the various merch items you bought over your 6-8-month program when you are home suffering from Post Disney Depression. You will have reminders of things that nay have been the best time of your life, as for me the DCP was the greatest time of my life. Go on the Party bus. The party bus promoters are all great people running a business, your facilitators will tell you to stay away from the party bus and they will feed you horror stories. I’ll be honest with you though not going on the party bus my first DCP was my biggest regret and i made up for it on my second DCP. I learned that these people aren't scary they are helpful they provide a service. For 10 dollars I can get entry into the night clubs and have a safe way to get home where I don't have to worry about a Uber, drunk driving or finding a designated driver. My last tip is to play in the parks but don’t forget to explore Florida. Take a day trip to the beaches, Miami, key west , explore downtown Orlando. Go to universal.Do not limit yourself to Disney which was my mistake on my first program .I was so young and so afraid to leave Disney property I missed out on a lot.It made me kind of sad I was living in a whole new city for the first time and all I had seen was Disney. In this time I encourage you all to explore and find yourselves. Take the time you need to become the person you need to be. Orlando is full of opportunities and surprises but you have to be willing to go find them. |
