Rapper Young Saturday built the hype around his debut mixtape by posting to social media using the saying "Who is young Saturday anyways?" he left many people wondering who exactly Young Saturday was. With the drop of his EP "Good for Nothing” he is answering all of your questions and all of mine because I had the pleasure of interviewing him. Throughout the interview there was nothing but good vibes all around and Young Saturday was humble, it felt like I was talking with an old friend. Before good for nothing was released I had the pleasure of hearing select tracks from the project but nothing quite compares to hearing the finished product. The finished project is way better than anything I could have ever imagined, it’s an experience to fully appreciate all of the hard work that an artist put into their project. I decided to keep the interview light focusing on Young Saturday and his music career the interview is transcribed here.

K.S: Who is Young Saturday?
Y.S: I ask myself that question all the time! Don't get it confused though I am not Young Saturday, but he is someone who is very dear to me. That's why when I rap you can sometimes hear me say things like Young Saturday does this and Saturday does that, but in reality, the question "Who is Young Saturday" is for the fans to decide. He can be who you want him to be whether it be your homie or your mom. Heck Young Saturday could even be your crazy aunt if it came down to it.

K.S: How did you choose the name Young Saturday?
Y.S: The Name came up because of two reasons really the first being that everyone wants to feel young on Saturdays that's why you see all these old heads going out to clubs and partying on Saturday’s cuz it makes them feel young. And we all know they work 9-5 on weekdays so they can't be going out like that during the week. I also chose the name Saturday because it's the day of the week that everyone looks forward to and everyone wants to party on that day. I tend to try and live my life like every day is Saturday and of course, everyone wants to party with Young Saturday so that is a factor too. I like to think Young Saturday is a life style in itself.

K.S: Who are some of your musical inspirations?
Y.S: Growing up I would listen to Slim Thug, Mike jones, Paul Wall, Hurricane Chris, Dem franchise boyz, Dorrough, Shop Boyz, baby boy da prince and Stuff like that. It was a lot of Texas trill back in the day but like I would also listen to shit like nirvana "as cliché as that sounds" and modest mouse, NOFX and Gorillaz Heavy but I can't forget Backstreet Boys and N'Sync like in the 90's everyone was on that and if they say they weren't then they are lying! I kinda just like the whole Rock star life style and I inspire to get people to live out their inner rock star and try to keep up with the party life no matter how old you are. Oh and 07' Gucci!

K.S: How do you feel after releasing Good for nothing to the Public?
Y.S: To put it bluntly, I feel like "Rock star lifestyle might not make it" This is undoubtedly the best tape so far! I'm just hoping it will create opportunities for me and help me build connections plus who knows it might blow up in a few months or so but we will see just how many people actually get put on.

K.S: What was the creative process to recording this EP?
Y.S: For me, I typically record at night just because I sleep late and stay up late usually because I had been out the night before being unruly with the crew. You always gotta record in the dark just because it gives that feeling that it's just you and the music at that point. I always have to have at least one either person with me especially someone who can give me feedback. A lot of people just take that for granted and most people will just tell you its good all the time but I know people like Southpine will be brutally honest with me and my boy Demy will make sure my songs sound clean asf so shouts out to them! Warning: Never try to record drunk you will sound like a NBA player trying to rap and nobody likes that sound.

K.S: Who are some current Rappers that have your attention?
Y.S: Young Saturday, Demy, Southpine, Int'l Playboy, Lil Gojie and some others that work with me. you can catch most of these rappers on my soundcloud ( https://soundcloud.com/boltzen) I also peep the singer Gleason you can catch him on the last track of the EP but yeah you know he does his thing! Other than that I mean I obviously listen to rap but at this point in the game I’m just trying to put the team on and make sure all my music goes.

K.S: What is in the future for Young Saturday?
Y.S: After this last release, I'm planning on doing a show next month with the help of ethernet famous (check his beats on SoundCloud he goes hard) you also will probably catch me on some features. Can't forget this group tape we been trying to come up with when that comes out you will be able to actually check out some of the names I mentioned above. Other than that I’ll just be laying low and promoting this tape. So I guess you could say I’m staying pretty busy. And just like that... I'm out like McDonald's ice cream! Thanks for the interview Keke huge shout out!

I honestly had so much fun Interviewing Young Saturday whoever that is the thing that stuck out to me most was "I tend to try and live my life like every day is Saturday". That is something I will immediately implement into my life!
